First Transit, Inc., now a part of TransDev, is North America’s largest private-sector provider of mobility solutions, moving more than 300 million passengers annually. The company provides consulting, management, and operation for more than 300 locations in 41 states, Puerto Rico, and four Canadian provinces. Its clients include transit authorities, states, municipalities, universities, and private companies.
Problem
After a series of acquisitions and growth periods, First Transit felt growing pains, with mission-critical applications and business processes becoming overburdened. The organization needed comprehensive modernization efforts, including migrating the entire enterprise’s catalog of services and applications to a cloud platform.
CBTS solution
CBTS was able to assess First Transit’s entire application portfolio and map out a modernization strategy specifically customized for the client’s goals and requirements—resulting in a multi-cloud data environment built for Microsoft Azure functionality. CBTS designed, modernized, and migrated the applications, which included Windows-based applications and database servers with integration to reporting services in another Azure subscription.
Outcome
First Transit fully modernized its application catalog, boosting customer satisfaction while laying the groundwork for future expansions. The First Transit IT team can now install application updates on a virtual machine, which is then accessed seamlessly by the riders on the client’s shuttles, trains, and buses. This process has the added benefit of simplifying application deployment and patch management.
Our client is a U.S.-based gas station and convenience store chain with several thousand locations throughout 32 states.
Problem
After a recent divestiture from its parent company, the company lacked the IT resources to unravel its complex IT environment without disrupting day-to-day operations. In addition, they had limited financial resources and stringent accounting standards for divestiture expenses.
CBTS solution
After assessing the client’s entire IT environment, CBTS designed and implemented a divestiture roadmap for multiple areas of the organization, including applications, infrastructure, network, and security. Four teams of CBTS experts supported the client’s divestiture roadmap and timeline. CBTS provided a custom pricing model to accommodate the client’s financial and accounting standards.
Outcome
Our client completed its divestiture timeline with minimal disruption to daily operations. Additionally, they chose CBTS to continue as its primary IT partner.
The client, founded in 1883, is the largest grocery retailer in the U.S. with over 3,400 store locations.
Problem
The client’s grocery customers expected a personalized, omni-channel shopping experience. However, the company lacked the IT resources and network bandwidth to keep pace with increasing digital expectations. Additionally, its internal operations and supply chain system needed modernizing to meet digital innovation time-to-market objectives.
CBTS solution
Two CBTS agile scrum teams were deployed to the company for greenfield development of an online grocery ordering system with integration into a third-party supply chain automation platform. In addition, CBTS was able to add a dedicated, high-bandwidth, cloud-native network environment to the company.
Outcome
The newly automated ordering system reduced fulfillment time for online orders from one hour to five minutes. In addition, the modernized, cloud-native network environment minimized downtime and outages—thus improving customer experience. Our client can now meet its innovation time-to-market objectives without disrupting core IT operations.
